-New Urban In Memoriam- Remembering 2Fast 2Furious / Boyz 'N the Hood Director John Singleton

Academy Award-nominated director John Singleton has passed away tragically at age 51 due to stroke. The director was removed from life support on Monday evening after suffering a major stroke on April 17th in Los Angeles and being in a coma for the last 2 weeks. Singleton wrote and directed the groundbreaking urban drama film “Boyz n the Hood” (1991), starring Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr.,  as young men navigating gang culture in South Central Los Angeles.  With “Boyz n the Hood”, he became the first black director nominated for an Oscar and, at age 24, the youngest person ever nominated in the history of the Academy. Singleton also directed the films "Poetic Justice" (1993, starring Janet Jackson & Tupac)  “Rosewood” (1997), “Shaftv (2000, starring Samuel L. Jackson), “Baby Boy” (2001, starring Tyrese Gibson & Taraji P. Henson), and “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003), and other hit action films such as "Four Brothers" (2005, starring Mark Wahlberg & Andre 3000…
