In this week's movie news, post-production trailers are being marketed in Europe for the latest installment in the iconic ROCKY franchise,  "CREED II", with Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan returning in the starring role as Adonis Creed, son of Rocky Balboa's former competitor and trainee. Sylvester Stallone and Black Panther writer/director Ryan Coogler serve as executive producers on the film.

In this latest installment of the boxing film series, life has become a balancing act for Adonis (Johnson) Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. The plot follows Adonis training in order to defeat the son of Ivan Drago, the powerful athlete who killed his father in the ring more than 30 years prior. Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what is worth fighting for, and discover that nothing is more important than family.

As a sequel to Creed (2015) and the eighth installment in the Rocky film series, Creed II brings audiences a character that is the brainchild of Ryan Coogler (director of Fruitville Station and Black Panther), as an idea he pitched to Stallone. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Stallone, Tessa ThompsonDolph LundgrenPhylicia Rashad, Olympic boxer Andre Ward, and Wood Harris, all of whom will reprise their roles from previous entries.  While Creed introduced audiences to Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Johnson, son of Apollo Creed, as a sequel, Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place- and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
Creed was both a commercial and critical success for the now 42-year-old ROCKY film franchise, earning Sylvester Stallone a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 2016 Oscars for his reprisal of the role of Rocky Balboa, as well as a win at both the 2016 Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards in the same category.

CREED II  wrapped filming on June 8th hits US theaters in November. It is slated for a mid-winter release in Germany & the rest of the EU.
