-New Urban STYLE- Going to the Chapel, Royal Wedding Edition: The NUY 40+ Style Guide to Dressing for a Summer Wedding

American actress Gina Torres turns heads in an exquisitely embroidered dress with a sheerness and silhouette reminiscent of 1930s style.

It's official, we've now had the first day of summer, and as your social calendar is probably also telling you, wedding season is in full effect! Historically, June has always been considered the most popular month for weddings in western countries, and now trips to the chapel to celebrate marriages are on the upswing. Although it took place in May, one of the most talked about weddings of the year set to inspire summer fashion is that of Prince Harry and Her Royal Highness Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.  Formerly Meghan Markle, the UNICEF goodwill ambassador and former star of US television drama, "Suits", had no extended family members in attendance to the royal wedding outside of mom Doria Ragland, but was feted by fellow American friends and entertainment industry peers in their warm-weather best; including "Suits" co-star Gina Torres, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, close pal Serena Williams & Prince's Trust Ambassador Idris Elba and their partners (with Elba later DJing the royal couple's wedding reception).

As to be expected, May's style parade at Windsor Castle attracted fashion media attention from across the globe, due in part to the celebrity cache of guests in attendance,  least of all the ladies of color who showed up in their church-house finest for the celebration.  Inspired by the classic formality of day attire for a traditional church wedding,  fashion magazines, boutiques, and retailers around the world are having a quite a time spotlighting  fashion inspired by some of the best-dressed attendees to what will arguably be the most sartorially celebrated wedding of the year- and NUY 40+ has picked out our favorites, too!

While we don't often get the opportunity to dress for warm weather weddings in Germany- when the temperatures finally decide to rise it's always refreshing to get out of cold comfort clothing, and into wardrobe pieces with color and flow.  The following is NUY 40+ Royal Wedding Style Guide inspired by some of the guests' most popular looks; now you, too,  can be inspired to wear a burst of color for your next trip to the wedding chapel on a warm, sunny day- adding or subtracting wedding hat or fascinator to your personal preference. As always, to shop the garments, click on the clothing title!

Look # 1: OPRAH- THE CLASSIC CHURCH MAMA
For those of us expats that grew up in the traditional black American church, nothing says home like memories of mothers and aunties dressed to the nines for Sunday service or special church occasions. Oprah Winfrey keeps the tradition intact at Meghan & Harry's royal wedding by donning a beautifully tiered blush colored dress by Stella McCartney,  accented with a refurbished Phillip Treacy hat first worn at her 2005 Gospel Brunch at the media mogul's "Legend's Ball" Weekend, an event televised for ABC television.

Dhowre, a 29-year-old Canadian actress, is dressed in a Gucci 2 piece knit dress set, with matching Gucci shoes and purse. Perfect for those "not entirely" sunny days,  when accessorized properly a crisp, tailored knit is both practical and elegant for German summer days when the weather's not cold, but a bit "in-between".
