It's hue is as rich as the finest red wine, it's simul-taneously sultry & stately, and it suits nearly any skin tone. Back in 2012 we knew it as oxblood, but we also refer to it as bordeaux- and it belongs to the same color family as maroon and cordovan. The magic color of the moment we're talking about now is burgundy, and it's front and center in display windows everywhere, with fashion critics referring to it as The New Blue. A dark, intense autumnal tone on the deeper end of the red spectrum, burgundy is considered the more serious sibling to lighter shades of red and the fun, flighty energy of pink. It's reddish purple hue signifies the end of summer in nature, and in color psychology is interpreted to signify sophistication.
