RAE PRODUCTIONS & ISSA RAE PRESENTS
Today NUY+40+ is bringing you a tv treat for the weekend:  a short film/show pilot presented by critically acclaimed show creator of HBO's "Insecure", Issa Rae, and her company, ISSA RAE PRODUCTIONS.  Not content to simply rest on her laurels as one of the hottest young stars and producers in Hollywood, Rae, a Standford graduate and former YouTube breakout star (first known for her web series, "Awkward Black Girl") is using her influence and resources to nurture budding black talent in the film industry and serve as a media and distribution platform for a plethora of projects- with an expansive archive of pilots, short films and web shows under her company's production umbrella entitled, "ISSA RAE PRESENTS". In addition to enjoying the actress/writer/producer's show "Insecure" on HBO, we've also been enjoying "Issa Rae Presents" content with films like today's short tv pilot feature, "Stella With the World On Her Shoulders". Written by NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate Sidney Butler (who currently works as a writer's P.A. on a yet-to-be-titled spinoff from "Grey's Anatomy"), "Stella with the World on Her Shoulders" tells the story of an African-American woman who loses her job and apartment in New York City, and is forced to return to her parents' home in the suburbs.  While there, she attempts to hide what's going on in her life while grappling with the fact that everyone else's life appears to have changed just as much, if not more than her own. "Stella with the World on Her Shoulders" was made in part with a grant from The Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation.
