New Urban YUM! - Cook Up Easy Weekend Tastiness with Recipe Tips from Soul Legend Gladys Knight
For our YUM! feature this week, out of the NUY 40+ Test Kitchen comes an easy weekend dinner solution courtesy of America's Empress of Soul, legendary songstress (and soul food restauranteur) Gladys Knight. With not much more than a few Nackenkoteletts, vegetable juice, onions, and a green bell pepper, you can create a substantial comfort dinner for the family this weekend with a minimum of preparation and interactive kitchen time. As a side dish alternative for those who are laying low on the carbs, we suggest substituting quinoa, Hirse (millet), or garlicky brown rice mixed heavily with herbs for the white rice used in this dish. For those who don't have Lawry's seasoning salt at their disposal, a Paprika heavy seasoning like Brathänchen Gewurze (grilled chicken spice) is a great substitute, and any vegetable juice brand can be used in place of V-8 for the sauce. Watch the Empress get busy in the kitchen and get ready for some dinnertime goodness this weekend.
