-New Urban CINEMA- First Look: In the "Untold" Story That Captures her Meteoric Rise and Gives Insight into her Free-Fall into Destruction, Miramax Films Releases "Whitney"

From  the British director of The Last Kind of Scotland, a haunting fairytale of the world's most beloved Princess of Pop, "WHITNEY"

It's the second documentary to be released within a year about a woman who was arguably one of the greatest vocalists in the history of pop music.  With today's US release of "WHITNEY", Academy Award-winning director Kevin MacDonald has captured what Miramax Films proclaims as the "untold story" behind the stratospheric rise and dizzying fall of the tall, bronze, photogenic beauty universally hailed not only as the most exceptional vocal talent of her generation, as but  "The Voice"- decades before the term came into pop culture consciousness as a tv talent contest.

Through MacDonald's "WHITNEY",  audiences will peek behind the velvet curtains & gilded walls caging pop music's most celebrated princess,  unpacking the cliché narrative of a good girl gone bad through the perils of show business. Instead of seeing the Whitney Houston story as a superficial cautionary tale,  the film promises (often through the narration of Houston's own voice) to delve deeper into why her life unfolded as it did, exploring both the darkness and the light of a life that existed more in the grey areas than in clear-cut black & white.
