-New Urban Style File- "BLACK IN TRANSITION" for Spring Summer 2018

Clean & crisp with a hint of softness at MAX MARA in Milan for Spring 2018
While the first official calendar days of spring have come and gone, German weather, much like other nations with temperate climates,  is still in the thick of grey chill, making it hard to imagine a spring wardrobe filled with light, bright colors- when something darker in tone feels more appropriate and a safer bet for days with grey skies. Well thankfully enough, on this year's color trend palette, good, old reliable black is a mainstay for spring and summer just as it normally would be for the fall/winter season; black will be offered in clothing silhouettes appropriate for a variety of weather scenarios, from moderate to hot weather options that work from day to night.

We can expect to see fun, yet simple & minimalist summer pieces like those shown at Eudon Choi & Tibi; or flirty & gathered skirts contrasting with slim skirt options that work for conservative settings like the skirts shown at Giorgio Armani and Max Mara; or when it comes to suiting and other separates,  we will see slenderizing overcoats jackets, like those shown at Ann Demeulemeester- and pants that are cut slim on the body like those at Brandon Maxwell and Marchesa. For evening, slim black suits will sail right on into the night from when you wore them earlier in the day (adding or subtracting choice of blouse and shoe), and a huge trend we will see (as appropriate for the color black as any other) will be the striking pairing of a dramatic evening top with your favorite jeans for a bit of modern, urban edge (Brandon Maxwell). For spring and summer nights we can also expect to see the return of evening tunics and pants, not exactly like the oversized, overflowing styles you normally find in German Misses fashion boutiques vs. slender cuts in atypical fabrics and textures, like the shimmery black tunics and pants shown at Balmain in Paris.  If you're looking to update black pieces you may already have in your wardrobe in similar cuts, you can always add this season's favorite ruffle, bow, or feather accents, a cross body bag for the day or a clutch bag for the night.  Check out the curation of runway looks below to spire your BLACK IN TRANSITION wardrobe for the changing weather this spring and summer.
