-New Urban POD SPOT- HAPPY HOUR: A SHOT OF CONVERSATION - When smart, funny, and outspoken mix & meet to talk news and pop culture

HAPPY HOUR: A SHOT OF CONVERSATION hosts (left-right) comedian Kennelia Stradwick, entertainment lawyer, Sofia Stanley, and TV host  Emile Ennis, Jr. serve up a tasty mix water cooler talk ranging from politics to popular culture each week, direct to your headphones.

Tonight on New urban POD SPOT, the blog is spotlighting a dynamic California trio who air a weekly 30 minute podcast dissecting pop culture and current events - from Hollywood to the White House-and from a black perspective.  The podcast we're talking about is "HAPPY HOUR: A SHOT OF CONVERSATION", and it takes on the events of the day with a combination of wit, vigor, and humor that makes the perfect elixer to follow current water cooler conversations of note.  As per the show description on it's official website:

"Happy Hour is a weekly podcast hosted by Sofia Stanley, Emile Ennis Jr.  and Kennelia Stradwick that serves listeners a taste of exactly what happens when a lawyer (Stanley), a host (Ennis) and a comedian, (Stradwick) walk into a cyber bar. Listen as they discuss, argue, dissect, analyze anything and everything including sex, religion and politricks.  They rarely agree on anything, except that, sometimes the only thing that gets you through the week is, a shot of conversation.  At Happy Hour you BYOB, but the tea is on us. "

NUY 40+ first learned of this vivacious group of media influencers a few years back via the online show Afterbuzz TV.  There (where they were known in social media community by their nicknames Scandal Gladiators & Empire Cookie Monsters)  Stanley, Stradwick & Ennis accumulated a mass following each week for their on-air reviews of the hit tv shows "EMPIRE"  and "SCANDAL" - bringing viewers razor sharp commentary & analysis of each show's character and plot developement worthy of a first-tier college thesis.  With entertainment attorney Stanley's keen legal eye (and vast wealth of political science knowledge),  Stradwick's pragmatic, common-sense analysis & comedic timing, and Ennis Jr.'s  placid, often spiritually introspective observations (likely influenced by growing up as a Southern Preacher's Kid), viewers were treated to a thought-provoking, often hysterically funny treatise on shows that couldn't have been covered better by veteran television critics themselves. Wit this kind of magical dynamic, it only made sense that as the panel expanded their professional horizons onto other avenues, they would continue working togetherto bring viewers (who are now listeners) the same pop culture fun in the form of their  brassy, spirited, 30 minute podcast aired each week via, iTunes, Stritcher,   Podbean, Libsyn, and coutless others.

This week's episode of Happy Hour cocktail a satisfying one and a perfect introduction to the group's podcasting style. Alternately alternately serious, appropriately humorous in the right places, the group tackles the music industry, the Lybian slave trade crisis, and sexual politics in the media and workplace during the wave of sexual misconduct scandals sweeping America.  Although they don't currently have a youtube channel to embed video, the podcast links are easy to use. There is a language advisory in some parts of the broadcast, due to light cursing, so to be safe consider this episode NSFW.
