Whoopi Goldberg Celebrates 10 Years As Talk Show Host
and 62nd Birthday with Day & Common on "The View"
A few weeks ago on ABC television, Grammy-nominated artist Andra Day and Oscar-winning songwriter/rapper Common stopped by morning gab fest "The View" to celebrate show host Whoopi Golderg's birthday- performing Day's inspirational pop hit "Rise Up", and the duo's composition "Stand Up for Something", for the new Netflix film "Marshall". With a twist to the original song arrangement, the pair was joined by Baltimore's Cardinal Shehan School Choir, whom they previously surprised during the choir's visit to a different talk show earlier in fall. The middle school choir became a global viral sensation on the net this year for their YouTube performance of Day's 2016 Grammy nominated song "Rise Up", and were personally asked to appear on the View by Goldberg herself in celebration of both her birthday, and her 10 year anniversary as moderator of the talk show. Below, Andra Day (neé Cassandra Batie), Common (born Lonnie Lynn, Jr.), and the Cardinal Shehan Catholic School choir take the stage to deliver a rousing performance that inspires hope for all, with a short interview afterwards sharing the belief in possibility to be an agent of light in very dark times.
What a great message to start off the week. Happy Monday, everybody. ❤️
