"NEW" PEARLS
Taking conservative, elegant sophistication to a statement level sure to turn heads: the classic pearl has been revamped for Fall-Winter 2017-18 in jumbo sizes and non-traditional configurations in everything from unusually shaped earrings to grand collar necklaces, aptly earning this jewel of the sea's latest interpretations  "The Neo-Pearl", as it's many new sizes and shapes embrace modern style sensibilities with a nod to timeless chic.

CHANDELIER EARRINGS
Although  archeological finds & art history can date these stately accessories back to Greece in 5th century B.C., chandelier earrings made their first mass appearance in modern fashion around the late 40s, post-World War II.  The earring style particularly surged in worldwide popularity in 1950s fashion, as a style departure from the visual austerity and cautious spending reflected in the war years of the previous decade.   A popular evening wear staple until the 1960s, chandelier earrings provided high-fashion impact for the well-groomed woman of that era, then virtually disappeared from the style scene until the late 20th century. After a brief period of pause in the early years of the 2000s, they made a resurgence on red carpets and for formal events (and some U.S. Presidential election nights!) around 2008.  This season, we've seen them from all over, from Paris to Milan at Isabel Marant and Miu Miu. The rules for wearing chandelier earrings today are a bit more relaxed than in the fifties; they are as equally stunning with jeans and a suit jacket for an evening out as they are onstage with a formal gown or worn for a black-tie event.  One rule, however, still remains for these attention-grabbing jewels when worn off the runway or the pages of your favorite fashion editorial: never mix them with elaborate necklaces, so they remain the focus of attention. Do, however, feel free to accentuate with a cocktail ring or statement bracelet for maximum effect.

MONOGRAMS
Another classical style that has been reinterpreted for modern times is the time honored monogram, as seen in logo- pieces from Dior and Celine on the Paris fashion runways. If you're not exactly "logomania" type of girl, take the trend back to the basics and make it your own by choosing personalized monogram with your initials, a look as timeless as original monogrammed pieces dating back to ancient Greece.

MULTI-RINGS
What was once retro is new again in the resurgence of 1970's style hand chains & multi-rings, which can be found now from High Street to your favorite local retailer. A simple way to add a little pizazz to any outfit, the simple placement of an extra, coordinating ring on the first or second finger is a surefire way to ad a little extra shimmer and shine to your day.

THE STATEMENT BRACELET
If you're looking for a singular piece with a touch of "wow, try a statement bracelet, or better yet, why not one with fringe? Fringes are one of the biggest statement accents in accessories this season whether you find them on bags, shoes, or jewelry- and are particularly glam when used on metals, giving pieces a ultra sleek, yet slightly edgy 70's disco & 80's rock flair. Ivy Revel's "CHANCE" statement cuff is a stand-alone piece sure to turn heads when you enter a room, and moves easily from the concert hall to the discoteque.

THE  ATYPICAL NECKLACE
Breastplates,  oversized geometrics, and uneven architectural shapes were the order of the day in  runway necklaces at a good number of shows this year,  most notably at Marc Jacobs in New York and Alexander McQueen in London. Not just for special occasions, a daring statement necklace can add a bold touch to everyday denim, or a simple, tailored shirt. Paired with minimalist stud earrings, a striking piece of neckwear  like this piece from ALBA MODA can take monochromatic dress wear  your favorite chambray button down to the next level.

POM POM FUR ACCENTS
One of the most popular, most accessible trends of the year: pom-pom fur, as seen at Naeem Khan, and reinterpreted by everyone's favorite retailer, H&M. Dress up your jeans and a sweater or accentuate your favorite black dress with this classic black homage to one of the favorite fashion accents of the 1960s and 70s.

UPCYCLED MATERIALS
For the understated environmentalist who also loves fashion,  runway shows from Prada to Balenciaga found ways to give new life to everyday, ordinary materials like porcelain, scraps shells & metal cans as a nod to the world's growing interest in upcycling. Here, humble sea stones and shells are elevated to distinctive style in a stylish cuff.
