New Urban U.S. News - New York City Resumes Daily Life After Port Authority Terror Attempt
Just this past Monday the news world was rocked with yet another report of an attack in New York City, this time by a man wearing a crude homemade pipe bomb at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan. City officials stated the suspect and would- be suicide bomber was 27-year-old Akayed Ullah from Bangladesh, who said he acted in response to Israeli actions in Gaza, U.S. airstrikes in Syria, pledges allegiance to ISIS, and "chose the location because of its' Christmas themed posters". Officials also stated it was a "lone wolf" terrorist attack attempt, exploding in a walkway below the Port Authority Bus Terminal transit hub on Monday- killing no one, but injuring five and setting off panic during the city's busy morning commute.
After taking the injured suspect into custody and further investigation, the Port Authority resumed its' regular traffic schedule by Monday afternoon, leaving officials on high safety alert, while leaving resident commuters & tourists alike virtually unfazed as they hurried into the bus depot to continue their transportation plans through and around New York's world famous 42nd Street. By Monday evening, the failed attempt at terrorizing New York made the rounds on national late night talk shows as fodder for monologues in what was thankfully just a close call, allowing the city and its' dogged residents to carry on their daily schedules as normal.
